Just Beginning: A Beginners Guide

The ship you are travelling on has just landed on the planet of Calypso. You gain your first view of Port Atlantis out of the newly opened airlock. The first thing you need to be able to do is to know how to control your avatar.

Controls

The easiest way of controlling your avatar is in aim mode. To cceck whether or not you are in aim mode or cursor mode press the letter "O" on your keyboard this will bring up the options menu. Ensure there is a red X in the box next to Enable Aim Mode. This will allow you to toggle between cursor mode and aim mode by pressing the "space bar".
Aim Mode
Aim Mode allows you to be able to survey your surroundsings just by moving your mouse around. If you are stood still your avatar will turn on the spot. If you are running (activated by pressing "r") your avatar will switch direction and continue running in the new direction

Cursor Mode
Cursor Mode is used for interacting with objects, colonists, in game NPC's (not player controlled avatars) and the in game menus. Buy holding down the right mouse button you can survey your surroundings in the same way you would if you were in Aim Mode.

Short Cut Keys

a:	Side steps your avatar to the left
b:	Switches on/off the Desktop icons in the top right hand corner of the screen

c:	Displays the current Mindark time and your current session time
d:	Side steps your avatar to the right
e:	Jumps your avatar into the air
f:	Opens up the Hall of Fame(HOF) list
g:	Opens up an in game keyboard showing your short cut keys
h:	Opens up the Mouse Help screen. Which has a description of what does what on the mouse
i:	Opens up your inventory
j:	Opens up your friends list. Green icons are your friends that are currently online and the red icons are friends currently offline.
k:	Opens up the avatar skills panel.
l:	Opens up the edit panel. From here you can open/close your action library (x), inventory (i) keyboard map (g) Action Set Panel, Desktop Icons (b) or reset everything to default settings.
m:	Opens up the map
n:	Changes the look of your target. Difference can only be seen in Aim Mode.
o:	Opens up the options menu
p:	Displays your current position by co-ordinates.
q:	Moves your avatar forward
r:	Run
s:	Stop
t:	Teleports you to the nearest revival terminal. Takes 60 seconds to teleport
v:	Removes/brings back the HUD
w:	Walk
x:	Opens up the action library
z:	Toggles between first and third person
space:	Toggles between Cursor Mode and Aim Mode
Enter:	Starts/stops global chat

Escape:	Pressing the escape key gives you the option of exiting the Entropia Universe
